Phase 1: Preparation / Detox

During the two day Preparation Phase your body is being gently prepared for its conversion to this new way of eating.

It is important that the intestines are fully evacuated during this time to avoid hunger and cravings later on.

Consequently, only light meals are advised for the first two days of the Metabolic Balance program.

Please drink at least 2 litres of water throughout the day. No flavour added to the water, and for this phase, no carbonated water. If you have a cup of coffee or tea with breakfast, that is not considered part of your water intake. The more water you drink, the more you will eliminate, which will be of great benefit for starting Phase II of the plan. You also want to ensure you don’t become dehydrated.

On day one, you should have a full bowel evacuation, so you don’t need to do the Natural Calm on day 2.

Day 1:

Before breakfast: Natural Calm

  • 4 Tbsp. Natural Calm

  • Warm - Hot Water

  • Tall Glass

  1. Place the Natural Calm in a tall glass.

  2. Add 1 tbsp. of hot water very slowly, it will fizz up and if you add a lot of water, the glass will overflow.

  3. Once it has stopped fizzing, you can add more water.

  4. If you used boiling water, allow to cool until it is a comfortable temperature for you to drink down as quickly as you possibly can

  5. Wait 30 minutes, then have breakfast.

Day 1 and 2:

Breakfast

  • Have 1 egg scrambled with some vegetables, no cheese or meats of any kind are to be added.

  • You can also have an apple, preferably organic, skin on.

  • You may enjoy water (preferably filtered), a cup of black coffee or green tea, absolutely no juice.

Lunch

  • A big bowl of the Roasted Vegetable Soup.

  • Salad greens, such as arugula or spring mix, with squeeze of fresh lemon juice, or apple cider vinegar.

  • A glass of water, preferably filtered.

Dinner

  • A bowl of the Roasted Vegetable Soup.

  • Salad greens, such as arugula or spring mix, with squeeze of fresh lemon juice, or apple cider vinegar.

  • A glass of water, preferably filtered.

What can you expect during your detox?

People can sometimes experience what is known as a Healing Crisis -  this reaction occurs when the body tries to eliminate toxins at a faster rate than they can be properly disposed of. The more toxic one's bodily systems are, the more severe the healing crisis. It is characterized by a temporary increase in symptoms during the cleansing or detox process which may be mild or severe.

Such reactions are temporary and usually pass quickly.

The healing crisis is the result of every body-system, in concert, working to eliminate waste products through all elimination channels and set the stage for regeneration.

Common symptoms of a healing crisis are:

  • Extreme fatigue and/or its opposite

  • Headaches

  • Aches and Pains

  • Nausea

  • Sinus congestion

  • Strong emotions: anger, despair, sadness, fear, etc.

To Ease Your Way Through the Healing Crisis:

Drink plenty of fresh water to flush the body of toxins. Try to drink from 2 to 4 litres per day.

I certainly don't want to alarm you, we really are only doing a one day bowel cleanse, so the chances of a severe healing crisis are quite slim.

Mind Body Spirit

  • Sleep is important any time of year, but especially during Phase I, your body needs the quiet time to detox and recharge.

  • Meditation is excellent for releasing any emotional toxins.

  • Have a bath with a relaxing essential oil such as lavender.

  • Don’t do anything strenuous, you can enjoy gentle walks or stretching, but nothing intense.
